Three Things to Do At Home during a Lockdown
Three Things to Do At Home during a Lockdown
Well here we all are – the majority of the world at home during this horrible Coronavirus outbreak! The days are long and seem to blend into one, especially if you have young children. At Satin Boutique, we completely understand. We believe that it’s best to keep as busy as possible because the days feel like they go faster when you’ve got things to do. However, when you’ve exhausted all of your options – what do you do? Here are some of our ideas for things to do at home during a lockdown!
- Cook Up a Storm!
If there’s ever a time to try out something different in the kitchen, it’s now! You may well already be quite accomplished in the kitchen but whether you’re a beginner or an experienced chef, this is your chance to do something different.
If you’re missing your favorite restaurant – look up some of the dishes you love and try something yourself, there are plenty of great recipes to follow online so challenge yourself and set yourself a goal of two new recipes a week.
Love Thai food? Here’s Satin Boutique’s Chicken Ramen soup – it’s delicious and ideal whether it’s cold outside or it’s heating up:
SERVES 4
You’ll need:
- 1 lime, quartered
- 1 red chilli (sliced)
- Handful of beansprouts
- Handful of coriander roughly chopped
- 2 x spring onions chopped
- 1 red onion thinly sliced
- 2 packs of instant noodles
- 2 x chicken breasts
- Chicken stock
- 2 tablespoons of sweet chilli sauce
- 2 tablespoons of fish sauce
- 2 tablespoons of malt vinegar
- ½ tablespoon of sugar
- Sesame oil
METHOD:
Score the chicken breasts and rub them with sesame oil, season with salt and pepper. Grill or fry the chicken until it is cooked through. Slice it on the diagonal and set aside.
Make the ramen sauce using 2 tbsp chilli sauce with 2 tbsp of fish sauce. Add 2 tbsp of malt vinegar and ½ tbsp of sugar. Mix it together.
Make a weak chicken soup using chicken stock, boil it up (2 or 3 litres should be enough).
Blanch your beansprouts in boiling water for 14 seconds.
Boil up your noodles, then drain and refresh in cold water.
Place the noodles in the bottom of each bowl.
Divide the sauce between each bowl.
Pour the soup on top.
Divide the vegetables between each bowl.
Add the chicken.
Add a quarter of lime (give it a light squeeze into the soup).
Gently stir each bowl and serve.
- Make Way for New Lingerie
We’re all about lingerie and feeling good from the inside out so we’re always going to recommend changing up your old, tired panties and bras for something new. While your lingerie wardrobe is important to keep clean and tidy, you might as well clear out all of your clothes!
Anything that you haven’t worn for two years should be packed up in bin liners for the charity shop (or sell it on – the circular economy is better for the environment).
Once you’ve gone through your clothes, dust everything out so your cupboards and drawers are spotless and place everything on padded or wooden hangers. Keep your clothes and lingerie sets in polythene covers, this prevents dust and maintains your underwear and clothing for longer. If you have the space, color co-ordinate so it’s easy to pick out an outfit.
Once you’ve done that, see what needs replacing. If it’s new lingerie, we have some great sets that will make you feel comfortable and sexy all at the same time. This Elegant Moments Crochet Bralette in Navy features a matching pantie and garter – it’s just gorgeous: https://satin-boutique.com/collections/bras-panties-garterbelts/products/elegant-moments-em-3077-crochet-bralette-set
If the weather is hot where you are – how about a brand new bikini?
