How to Motivate Yourself to Get Fit

It’s January and we all know what that means!  Apart from dealing with the hangover of New Year and getting back to work, we’ve all piled on the pounds over the festive season.  Eating a turkey with all the trimmings and enjoying sweet treats for weeks on end will likely have tipped the scales in the wrong direction.  With that in mind, one of your New Year’s Resolution’s was probably to get fit – or certainly shed a few pounds in time for the warmer weather in a few months.  Once you’ve made the decision, you need to act on it and it’s all too easy to let reasons why you don’t need to exercise creep into your mind.  You’re tired, you have chores, the kids need help with the homework, it’s raining, you’ll do it tomorrow – all excuses we’ve experienced but you must be more disciplined if you want to roll back the fat!  Here are Satin Boutique’s top motivating tips to getting fit this 2020!

  • Set Realistic Goals

Be honest with yourself.  If you haven’t so much as looked at a sneaker in five years, you’re unlikely to be able to run for half an hour!  So, take it slowly.  Start with a realistic goal – if you want to run, download an app that increases your fitness levels.  You start with just a one minute run then a brisk five-minute walk, then another minute’s run, then a brisk walk.  Next time, you can increase it to a 90-second run, a five-minute walk, etc. until you can run for a few minutes at a time.  Keep going!  The achievement is when you can run for 20 to 30 minutes without taking a break.  The same applies to other exercises, start with small goals and once you’ve achieved them, make those goals more of a challenge.

  • Find a Fitness Friend!

It’s always good to have someone by your side when tackling something challenging so find a friend and follow your fitness journey together.  That way, when one of you doesn’t feel like working out, the other can do the motivating!  You will achieve more together and having someone by your side will make the time pass quicker.

  • Try Out Different Things

Just because your close friend loves aerobics doesn’t mean you will too!  Shop around – try different things and see what works best for you.  You might prefer dancercise or weight-training, perhaps you’ll enjoy Pilates or Yoga.  You might find trial classes in your local area so sign up for trials and see which you like best.

  • Give yourself a Reward

When you achieve something you deserve a reward!  If you really want to get in shape, then your body will look better than ever in some fancy new lingerie so have a goal in mind.  Why not pin that set of lingerie you love on your noticeboard to remind you of your end goal?  We love this Elegant Moments Crochet Bralette Set – it’s a great motivator! https://satin-boutique.com/collections/bras-panties-garterbelts/products/elegant-moments-em-3077-crochet-bralette-set

  • Give Your Body a Treat!

After you’ve worked out, your limbs will be tired and achy, so why not treat yourself to a delicious massage?  Even better – enjoy a massage for two and get your partner involved!  Make sure to really caress joints and bones but use a really good quality massage oil to get the results you want.  Why not choose a massage oil that not only gives your limbs the relief they need but also creates a sensual mood?  When you’re fit – you can go for longer!  Try out Satin Boutique’s Karma Sutra Oil Aromatic Oil Serenity is the perfect tonic! https://satin-boutique.com/collections/body-bath/products/kama-sutra-eld-7376sy-kama-sutra-aromatic-oil-8-oz-serenity
